Thousands of non-academic courses in subjects such as cookery, horse grooming and food processing are set to be scrapped from league tables in a major crackdown on schools playing the system.

Mixed feelings. Yes to trying to stop people playing the system, and have no real wish to become a nation of hairdressers. No to focusing exclusively on “academic” courses. There are more types of intelligence that we need to be catering to.
