Westminster is among up to 700 independent schools now opting for IGCSEs in at least one subject area. The number of entries is believed to have increased by more than a third in just two years.
The disclosure comes despite the fact that Labour refuses to formally recognise the qualification, meaning it cannot be studied in state schools. The Tories have pledged to reverse the decision.
